Casey Elisha Books
Casey Elisha Books was created after I released my debut children's book, Love Thy Fro, in December 2015.
I have since released My Empowerment Journal, My Mummy is Superwoman and My Daddy Does, and also created I Am Festival, a space where children and parents from all backgrounds can come to feel celebrated and empowered, and to discover new literature with images that reflect their reality.
It’s so important for children to see images that look like them in books, and I think the current publishing industry is failing to do this. To be diverse is to be inclusive; why wouldn’t we want all children to be included in literature? Children should be unapologetically proud of who they are, and their literature should be diverse enough to reflect and support this.
Through CEB, I want to try and diversify the scope of children’s literature by creating and promoting literary content that encourages, empowers and inspires.

Love Thy Fro: The Musical
I adapted my debut children's book, Love Thy Fro, into a children's musical that debuted at Theatre Peckham in October 2018 for Black History Month.
Love Thy Fro: The Musical follows a young girl named Kemi who hates her hair. After many failed attempts to try and tame it, Kemi goes on an unexpected journey to the 1970s where she discovers there is something deeply special about her big, beautiful Afro hair. Love Thy Fro: The Musical teaches there is much pride to be had in loving the skin you're in.
The production had two sold out runs at Theatre Peckham in 2018 and 2019 and received great, positive feedback. I am now focused on the development of the show, and what needs to be done to get it on to bigger stages as well as adapted into a film.
